E-Ten Information Systems of Taiwan has sent over the G500 Pocket PC, this solid GPS navigation smartphone that looks as though it fell straight outta Tron, is up next to the review block.
About 1% larger in size than the Blackberry 8700, the ETen G500 comes in at mere 119 x 62 x 23 mm. That is pretty amazing considering everything that is packed in here - GPS, GSM Quad Band, Bluetooth 2.0 and a 1.3 megapixel camera to name a few. The operating system is Window Mobile 5.0, it has a miniSD slot and a 2.8-inch QVGA screen. WiFi was left out, but where this thing is goin, you wont even find a base station. |

Many higher-end (and even not so high-end) vehicles these days come equipped with GPS functionality, but what about the rest of us that want a portable unit that is easily exchanged between cars? That's why there has been a recent influx of said devices this past little while, and now electronics giant Alpine is ready to make a big splash with the release of the Blackbird PMD-B100. |

LG certainly isn't the first company to develop one of these in-car entertainment units, but with the LAN-9600R, they certainly bring a lot to the table. This thing really does do it all, from blasting out your tunes (CD-R/RW, MP3, WMA, etc.) and videos (DVD-Video, DivX 3.xx/4.xx/5.xx) to keeping you heading in the right direction with its integrated GPS navigation (powered by SiRFStar III). |

Sorell’s business is steadily growing, and they are hoping to keep that trend alive with their newest device, the NF1, designed with the rugged outdoorsman in mind. Whereas some GPS manufacturers have started implementing media playback capability in some of their units, Sorell is taking an equal but opposite approach with the NF1. The company is better known for its MP3 players and PMP devices, and the NF1 takes that technology and adds GPS capability.
The 2.2-inch 262k-color TFT display will show all your favourite videos, and you can play back all your favourite MP3s, but don’t look to store too much. The ruggedly-designed NF1 only has 1GB of flash memory, so it’ll take a little ingenuity to cram in your movies, music, and GPS navigation maps all in there. |
